Identification on the back reads, "Wilhelm Abel died at St. Louis of cholera about 18 yrs old + his cousin, right". After some research I couldn't find any record of a Wilhlem or William Abel of around this age who died in1860s, but I did find a soldier named Jerome Abel, born 1843 in Pennsylvania, who died of cholera in the notorious Andersonville prison in Georgia on June 29, 1864. so
